Karen M. Witham

"I became interested in art in my young teen years. I had a wonderful art teacher that I learned basic drawing skills from.
In the path of my adult life these skills got temporarily left behind.
In October 2001, I faced a medical challenge.
I was diagnosed with M.S.
I had to medically retire in 2003 being unable to work at my job as a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
As I gradually adjusted to living with a chronic disease, I started looking back at my art interest.
At this time I was fortunate to be living in Bar Harbor, Maine.
Ah, a paradise of Artists and Art teachers.
I took many classes and workshops in watercolor from 2003 to 2006.
In 2007, I returned to Waterville.
I am now a self-taught artist, continually learning.
My main interest is watercolor.
I am also trying some colored pencil drawings.
I am a member of NORTHEAST T.E.A.M. Artists.
In June 2010 I attended a NORTHEAST TEAM Conference in
Ellsworth, Maine.
I submitted a painting to be judged in the Landscape Division.
My painting won Second Place.
This has encouraged me to keep following my love of creativity."
